The Australian Seafood Cooperative Research Center (CRC) is a cooperative research body with a core mission to advise and support Australia’s seafood industry.
As the market potential for lobster is booming in China, CRC was looking to understand what drives the Chinese end-users decision making in choosing which species of lobster to purchase, in a final aim to comprehend how to effectively market Australian lobster in this country.
CRC used our solution to take a peek into points of sale offering lobster in China’s top 50 richest cities, looking at all levels of the distribution chain. CRC utilized The Store Checkers to remotely visit hundreds of points of sale, from importers and wholesalers all the way down to restaurants and supermarkets. The store checks allowed CRC to monitor wholesale and retail prices on the ground, but also collect information as to the top-selling seafood.
